My Hoang Nguyen

" In order to see change in the world, I must be that change. I want to learn everything there is to learn about organizing so i could fight for the rights of communities that are hurt by this unjust laws"

Orlando Gallardo

â??The reason why I want to attend the Mid-South Retreat is that I believe that we as a community are all interrelated with one another. My beliefs and actions have an effect on my neighbors and vice versa. As the saying goes, â??To whom much is given, much is required.â?? I feel the urge to give back to the community in any way that I can to help those who are in need. â??

America Macias

" I wants to attend Arkansas so I can observe what it takes to be a trainer, and hopefully lead a workshop to train new leaders in the near future"

Anthony Muhammad Ruelas

"Though I am very active in my community, I want to be an agent of change. With new experiences come new opportunities, to become that agent of change, which I feel this camp can provide".

Consider Sponsoring a New Youth Today!
Friends, Supporters, Allies:

Greetings from your friends at the Kansas/Missouri Dream Alliance.

We would like to take this time to introduce you to some of our newest members!

DAWINDERPREET KAUR

We met Dawinderpreet at a Youth Leadership Institute where she was a staff member. From the first meeting she committed to being an ally to the undocumented youth in her life. She hit the ground running with ideas and is ready to grow as an organizer because she's willing to learn. She is a graduate of MCC.

MAGALI ROJAS
Magali is a graduate of East High School and will be entering her first year of college this fall. She first expressed her interest at a high school visit by KSMODA to her school. She kept in touch but became engaged and active this summer. Magali wishes to continue learning how she can become empowered and how she can empower others.

There are many more youth that are now active. They come from different backgrounds and are eager to learn. We are excited to get these leaders out in the "trenches" to fight for what is right.

I wanted you to meet these two new members (there are many more) because they need your help. On August 12-14th some of our members, both new and old, will be given the opportunity to attend a Leadership Training (more specific to government, lobbying, and organizing) in Fayetville, Arkansas. The cost to attend is only $25.00 per youth for the whole weekend. This includes lodging, meals, and materials. Unfortunately, being the volunteer run, student led organization that we are, we don't always count with the resources necessary to support our new members. We have begun fundraising doing various odd jobs, and also asking supporters to sponsor a youth.

That's why we're reaching out to you! We know times are rough, but we also believe this is a worthy investment. Youth willing to be the change in our communities. Please consider sponsoring someone today for only $25.00!

You can donate on this page or by contacting us at the email address below.

This is an opportunity to help those working for a better future. Should you have any questions please feel free to contact us at info@ksmoda.org subject line: Sponsoring Dawinderpreet or Sponsoring Magali - or should you want to sponsor another youth, simply write Sponsor a New Leader.
